Ever thought about enjoying your own cider or apple juice made from the apples grown in your trees. You know the trees we mean. The trees you look after all year to make sure to get a bumper crop.
Sure keep a few for the odd apple pie and custard or maybe the apple sauce for the Sunday Roast, but why not pair these with a glass of crisp, fresh homemade East Yorkshire cider or juice.
How it works?
We make cider from spare unwanted garden apples and perry pears. We share the juice with those who give us the fruit. We aim to get half the weight of the fruit out as cider. In simple terms 10 kilos of apples makes about 5 litres of cider. This year the returns in apple juice and/or cider will be as follows – 50% back free as apple juice – 25% as still 6.5% bag in box cider – 5 litre boxes (dry or medium) or 20% back free as naturally carbonated 500ml 6.5% bottled cider.
All cider is blended and mixed and represents the whole harvest from a single year. In practise, registered members bring their apples down to us at Eastgate House, East Street, Kilham, place during our advertised collection days. The fruit will be weighed and checked for viability (we can’t take rotten or unripe fruit), once weighed a receipt will be emailed to the registered account.
Alternatively we can collect collect your apples from you but this means we will reduce the returns in apple and/or apple juice to – 40% back free as apple juice – 20% as still 6.5% bag in box cider – 5 litre boxes (dry or medium) or 10% back free as naturally carbonated 500ml 6.5% bottled cider.
Some of your apples may start to fall sooner than others which is fine as long as you pick them up and store them.
It is therefore important that you are registered through the website before coming down or inviting us to collect your fruit, and if already registered, check that your email address is current.
